Luminex Announces New Graphical User Interface for Fire Series Version 2.3 CD and DVD Library and Recording Solutions
Riverside, CA - May 19, 1999 - Luminex Software, Inc. today announced that it has added a web-based graphical user interface (GUI) to its industry-leading Fire Series CD and DVD Library management and recording software. The addition of this new GUI simplifies system administration and enhances ease-of-use for Fire Series users across the network.
The Fire Series software product line is a central component of the leading DVD-Power-100 and CDR-Power-100 library solutions, and the NET-DVD and NET-CDR recording solutions. Fire Series version 2.3 with cross-platform GUI support is now in beta testing and is scheduled for general release on May 31.
The GUI allows remote maintenance of the Fire Series software by turning any computer (PC, Mac, or UNIX) with an internet browser and network connection into a system administration console. System administrators now have the option of using either an intuitive GUI interface, or continuing to use the traditional UNIX command line to view and change system parameters and perform maintenance tasks. System administrators can further simplify their day to day activities by removing themselves from the CD and DVD creation process; they can let users create CDs and DVDs directly from their networked PC, Mac, or UNIX workstation.
The addition of the GUI empowers users, while retaining the benefits of a centrally administered system. "Without changing core functionality, we have improved ease of use for our customers," states Brian Hawley, President at Luminex. "System administrators can now perform maintenance tasks at virtually any networked computer with a browser. To make administration even easier, they can now completely automate the CD creation process and let users burn their own CDs without any manual intervention. Luminex has always been sensitive to the needs of its customers. The addition of this universal GUI underscores that commitment."
